Ephesians 4:11-16    And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers,  to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ,  so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.   Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.

God made pastors so that they could equip every person in His church to do the work of ministry - building others up in love, helping others grow in Christ, encouraging, bearing burdens, and more.  Our equipping classes are one of the ways your pastors can obey God and equip you for a life serving Him and others.  We hope you'll join us!

We are currently offering four classes in order to help equip those at Shoreline:

Bible Study Methods - Sunday Nights at 6:00pm

This is an introductory course to studying and interpreting the Bible.  Since every word of Scripture is "breathed out by God" (2 Tim. 4:12), it's extraordinarily important that we learn how to understand it so we can live by it.  This class will give you both a high view of Scripture and the tools you need to get excited about reading it and apply it to your life. 

 

The Equipping Class: Truth - Sunday Nights at 8:00pm

Life, Church, and ministry are all meant to blend together.  This class is meant to teach you how to take that idea from a nice idea preachers talk about and turn it into a reality in your daily life.  When you're done, you'll know exactly how worship, work, church, evangelism, friendship, ministry, family, identity, and the gospel stop fighting each other for your time and fit together practically.

The Equipping Class: Community - Sunday Nights at 8:00pm

Everyone has relationships, but not many people have the kind of deep friendships that the Bible talks about.  This class is designed to give you the tools to find Biblical community with others and know how to handle those relationships as a Christian.  Whether it be dealing with problems or suffering in others’ lives, or simply trying to figure out how to sacrificially love someone else, this class will help you to both appreciate the importance of living in community and show what the Bible says about making that a reality.

Prerequisite: Equipping: Truth

 

Equipping: Mission - Sunday Nights at 6:00pm

God never meant for Christians to associate evangelism with a handful of awkward conversations and guilt for not doing it enough.  When you understand what God actually says about spreading the gospel, you will actually look forward to reaching out to those around you, showing them what life in Christ looks like for you and your church community, and teaching them what the gospel says about sin, Christ, hope, and love.  Join us in this class and you'll never look at "evangelism" the same way again.
