Survival Skills and He Who Wills- Week 4
Jul 26, 2007
By now, you have come to know more about our protagonist-David's heart
and started to have a bit less "sympathy" for the antagonist-Saul
after also observing more of his antics.
Although it can be strange at times to try to "relate" to Biblical
characters like these based on the completely different lifestyle and culture
they lived in, it's so important that the protagonist and antagonist we are
learning the true characters of are ultimately rooted in Christ or Satan and
both are still in existence today and extremely "current".
Their character never waivers from who they really are. Good &
evil- God is ALWAYS Good and sovereign and Satan is ALWAYS evil and apart from
Christ.
It's easy to forget about the true spiritual battle when there is a real
"physical enemy" in hot pursuit. But this week, we were
afforded a reminder of who our true enemy really is, and what to think or not
think of him.
We
were encouraged to "put on the full armor of God" and that we must
not be “ignorant of his schemes” (2 Cor.2:11). We
are to stand strong against the enemy via the Word of God by staying in
intimate relationship with Him always so that we will not be vulnerable to the
enemy's attacks where we are weakest.
- We are never more vulnerable than when we have a secret we don’t want others to know about us. The enemy will devastate us with that one area of weakness that has not been submitted to God’s Will and authority.
As long as God is for us, Satan has no true power to destroy us. But he'll be sure and do everything he can to make our lives as miserable as possible in hopes we will "destroy ourselves!"
David learned this in the wilderness over and over while out running a vengeful Saul, and yet, David knew that although this crazy man sought to destroy him, David was not to harm a hair on Saul's head "the Lord's annointed."
It would be for God alone to avenge David.
Put on the armor ladies, and stand on the Word. The Lord is for you!
